After tucking away all of my basses for safe keeping as Superstorm Sandy was bearing down on my home here in Long Beach NY and I was preparing for evacuation, I've FINALLY taken my brand spanking new Gibson Thunderbird IV out of storage. I purchased it before the hurricane and never got to play it! I plugged it into my Hartke rig for the very first time last week. The first song I cranked out was "Hard To Handle" by The Black Crowes. Next, I plan to visit the expert who sets up or repairs all of my basses, Paul Livoti at The Guitar E.R. to change the factory strings, as I use DR STRINGS, exclusively. đ·đ Joanne J-Bird Phillips: PROUD to be a member of the fine family of HartkeEndorsed Artists, Featured in Bass Musician Magazine (Feb. 2011) and Bassist with Turnpike Joe & The Traffic Jam, now in its 41st year Rockin' Long Island NY!
*A little history about this iconic bass design: The Thunderbirdâs unique âreversedâ zig-zag body design and equally distinct headstock was the brainchild of legendary automotive designer and visionary Ray Dietrich.
